Objective: To engage in a fun way to study the Bible
Bible Reference:
“He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” – Psalm 103:5
Introduction:
As a way to warm up the class, start by saying – “Remember the old days sitting on the back bench during school recess and playing *”Name Place Animal Thing” with friends? I learnt so many new things while playing this game. My friends introduced me to all sorts of exotic animals, funny places and interesting things that I’d never heard of. I still remember a few of them now after all these years. This week we’re going to use that game to do a small Bible study.”
Activity:
Start by asking the children to to write down on a sheet of paper the following:
1. A NAME of their favourite character in the Bible explaining why.
2. A
PLACE from the Bible that keeps ringing in their mind and what incident from the Bible it reminds them of. Ask them to write what incident happened there and how it is important or what it has taught you in your life
For e.g., every time someone says miracle or magic, I’m always reminded of Cana. Same with weddings. So Cana is sort of one of my favourite places in the Bible.
3. An ANIMAL (Any mammal other than a human) – Ask the kids to pick a verse (having an animal) from the Bible that has spoken to them. Also ask them to write what they learnt from the verse.
An example is Psalm 103:5 – “He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagles!
4. And finally, a THING from the Bible. This thing can be any object from the Bible that reminds them of God’s power (Perhaps jars of water or David’s sling and stones)
Encourage the kids to write the Bible study loudly on a paper. So what does writing loudly mean? It means using flashy colors and fancy decorations on papers such that they scream at you if you bin them by mistake.
