God is Greater Than Your Problems

An Activity To Teach That God Is Greater Than Our Problems

Objective: To teach that God is greater than your problems

Bible Reference:

“You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” – 1 Samuel 17:45

Introduction:

Share/Show the video below before you start –
Continue by saying –
“Sometimes when you have older siblings, they see you in a different way than you’d like to be seen. In the case of David and his brothers, David was seen as too young to be part of the battle. He seemed to be no match to the big and tough Goliath.

David was young, he was small, and he was not a warrior. None of these characteristics describe someone God could use, right? Of course not! But at the end, we see that David beat a guy who was much bigger and scarier than him. Why do you think that is? It’s because David’s confidence was in God. He knew and believed that God was greater than his problems and that brought him victory.”

Activity: Match or No Match

Continue by saying – “When was the last time your teacher asked you to pick up a fight with your sibling? Well…today might well be the first and last time any teacher will ask you to! So take full advantage!

This activity is done best with an elder sibling. If you don’t have an elder sibling, ask your mom or dad to be your sibling for 5 minutes. Challenge him or her to a match of Arm wrestling. Go well prepared for the match and record a video or click a pic of the match for me. You can also make it a best of 3 series just to make it more fun.”

After the match, ask the kids to write down the answers to the below questions on paper. Ask them to take make a collage of the pictures of their answers and a nice picture of them in action during the arm wrestling match. Title the collage as “God is greater than my problems”.

Questions:

1. How do you think David felt when he faced the giant? How did you feel during this game?
2. Was the competition fair or unfair? Explain.
3. What are some giants in your life you must overcome and what do you think is the best way to overcome them? Explain.

Let the kids know that these giants could be someone bullying them in school, or perhaps mathematics , or public speaking or even coronavirus. Could be anything that scares them and makes them feel small and weak.
