CREATION : A Reminder Of God's Love And Power
Scripture Passage: Genesis 1,2
Lesson Goal: To teach children that:

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? “– Matthew 6:26
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you.” – Matthew 6:28-30
Duration: Approximately 3 hours
1. Way to introduce the story:
Objective: To teach the power of God’s words
You will need:Paper, colors and other stationery
Explanation: Give each child a paper and ask them to draw and color (or) make one thing that they love about God’s creation. Once they are done, begin by asking them a few questions like:

- How long did it take for you to complete this beautiful piece of art?
- How did you make it?
- What did you use to make it?
- Do you think it’s perfect?
Can you give it life?
Can you give it life?Then say,
“Did you know God created the world from nothing? He made the world by the power of His word. Yes, you heard that right. God did not need a compass to make the world perfectly round or a palette of colors to spray the trees green or the waters blue. Just His word was enough to create the universe, our planet and everything in it. HIS WORD holds the universe together. Imagine! All God had to do was speak and things appeared. Isn’t that amazing?!”
2. Movie Time
(You may choose to play the below video by the Saddleback Kids or any other video that talks about God’s creation)
Explanation: Continue by saying, “When I think God spoke the universe and our world into being without lifting a finger, I am dumbfounded with such power. Everything in this world reminds us of His Majesty and Power.”
3. Game: “Let there be”
Objective:
To demonstrate the vastness of God’s creation and to teach how He made us special out of everything He created.
How to play:
Divide the kids into teams (more people, more teams) and announce that each team will have to squeeze into the shape of the item mentioned. For example: When you say “Let there be TREES” the teams must squeeze into the shape of a tree. (For a tree, the children can line up and the child standing in the front can be the bark and the others from behind can raise their hands to form the branches of the tree) The team that forms the shape first will be the winner.

5. Object Lesson
You will need: Flowers, insects or a pet animal
Explanation: Begin by saying, “God’s love for us is seen through His creation. His creation is His work of love for us (Psalm 119:64). In actuality, God created you to love you! He created the world and everything in it for you to enjoy. God loves us and cares for us. There are numerous examples in nature that will help us understand the wonderful provision of God for all of His Creation.” (Matthew 6:26, 28-30)
Using any such thing like a flower, insect or your pet (Hamster, bird, puppy) show the kids how God meets all their needs. Teach them how he will also meet our needs.
We used our little hamster friend, “Piku”.
6. Memory Verse
Now ask the kids to read out loud from Matthew 6:26, 28-30.

Conclude by saying, “The bible tells us that God loves each one of us far, far, more than flowers, animals, birds or any of His other creations. If He gives them everything they need, how much more will He give His very own children! ”
So never give in to fear, worry, or doubt. The Creator of the Universe loves you, cares about you and is always by your side.

| Toss Across: Toss a ball to one child. Have him say the first word of the verse before tossing the ball to someone else, who then says the next word, and so on. Continue until you complete the verse. If the ball is dropped, start over again. Time how long it takes to finish the verse; and try to beat the previous time. |
7. Craftivity
Objective: To Create A Bookmark That Reminds Of God’s Creations
Activity:
Give each child a copy of the creation bookmark that can be downloaded from HERE. You can have them splash it with their colorful creativity. Once done, fold it along the line provided to convert it into a beautiful foldable bookmark like in the image below. This will help them remember and appreciate the vastness and the variety of God’s creation in such a small space of time through nothing but His Word!
8. Snack Attack
If you plan on providing snacks, you can serve them a bowl of fruit salad and talk about its goodness. You can also remind them that these were what God originally provided for man to eat.
