To teach that we should always give God the best of our Time
Objective: To teach that we should always give God the best of our TIME (T).
You will need: A copy of the coloring page for each child.
How to play: Give each child a copy of the coloring page.
Round 1 –> Give the children just 30 seconds to color the first picture in the coloring page. They may end up with a messy incomplete picture. But that’s what we need for this illustration. So don’t bother.
Round 2 –> Now ask the children to take their time and color the second picture. Encourage them to make it as colorful and attractive as possible.
Explanation: You may begin by saying, “You colored both the pictures with the same set of colors. The first picture looks messy and incomplete but, the second picture looks beautiful, colorful and complete. What is the secret behind the second picture?” (wait for response) The kids may respond by saying that they were able to give it their best because they had a lot of time in hand.
You may continue by saying, “TIME! So when you put in a lot of time and effort into the picture, it turned out great. It is the same when we spend time with God. When we pray or read the Bible, we often give God leftover time. We study, play, come home and get involved with family events or our own pursuits, and if there is a little time before bed, we might say a prayer. By doing this, we put God last on the list. God ought to be first! Give the best time of your day to God. So the first T that we should give God wholeheartedly is our TIME.”
Suggestion: Make a timetable for your day’s activities – just like the one you have in school. Give God the time He deserves and plan out your other activities accordingly. Stick it in your room. It is easy to follow the timetable if you have it written down. Also, you can talk to God anytime and anywhere. You don’t need a special reason. He is our loving Father and is always waiting to hear you.
