Clay Play

To teach that it is God who gives us talents, gifts, abilities and beauty. He created us and is responsible for our worth. Only God deserves all praise and honor.

Objective: To teach that it is God who gives us talents, gifts, abilities and beauty. He created us and is responsible for our worth. Only God deserves all praise and honor

You will need: Modelling clay (just enough quantity to make a human figure) for each child.

How to play: Give each child some clay. Ask them to create a human and give it some special talents and abilities. For example, they can make a singer, dancer, athlete, etc.  Once they are done, you may ask them to bring their little creations to the front and showcase their talents. For example, if they made a singer, they should bring their clay doll to the front and make it sing.(using it like a puppet)

Explanation: You may ask the kids a few questions like,

  1. Who gave the doll a structure?
  2. Will the doll be able to do well on its own?

You may begin by saying, “We learnt that God simply spoke and formed the earth. For six days, He created by speaking different parts of the world into existence. And on the sixth day, God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed the breath of life into him. Only God can create life. God made man in His image. He gave man talent, gifts, abilities, and beauty. He created us and is responsible for our worth. Just like how the doll you made could do nothing without your help. We can do nothing without God. He is our Maker.”

“Let’s take a minute to praise Him right now. Raise your hand if you know a word that describes God – Mighty, strong, all-knowing, all-powerful, good, kind, loving, holy, great, merciful. Great! You have praised God by declaring His attributes. ONLY God deserves this praise.”
